Learn to navigate through moorland or lowland terrain beginner to progressive
Join a small group tuition day of up to 5 or book a personalised one-to-one session tailored to your experience level. Learn practical navigation skills, improve accuracy, and gain the confidence to plan and follow your own routes safely.
9.30am -4pm approximately.
These navigation courses are designed to help you build confidence, learn to walk solo, and feel safe, even when the weather takes an unexpected turn.
I offer two different types of workshops Lowland and moorland the principal of navigation is both the same but the terrain and environment is different.
My workshops are supportive and flexible, helping you build self awareness, observe your environment, and connect with your surroundings. Through simple, step-by-step techniques, you'll learn to engage your senses and apply practical navigational principles that become second nature with practice.
Maps and compasses are available to hire on the day at no cost, and all locations are assessed before the workshop begins to account for weather conditions.
I am available for one to one private tuition as well as mixed group workshops.

🧠Beginner-Foundation Pathway 3-5km
Becoming self aware of your environment
A steady and supportive introduction to navigation. You'll learn how to:
* Using your compass and take simple bearings
* Understand map symbols, ground features
* Practice handrails and linear features, aiming off
* Orientate your map confidently
* Understand the concept of contours on a map
* Build confidence on established routes
Ideal for complete beginners or those returning after time away.

Move beyond the path and navigate between key ground features growing your independence. Focus on:
* Micro-navigation techniques
* Pacing and timing
* Strategic route planning
*Low visibility strategies
* Sx grids
Designed for those ready to trust their skills, confidently across the moor.
